Governor Barbara Roberts Endorses Cyreena Boston for House District 45
Portland, Oregon – Governor Barbara Roberts has endorsed Cyreena Boston for State Representative in House District 45 today. This is the latest high-profile endorsement for Cyreena Boston and is expected to add to her campaign's momentum. The House District includes Northeast Portland and Maywood Park.
“Cyreena Boston is my choice for State Representative,” said Governor Roberts. “Cyreena really understands her community. Her hands-on approach to getting things done is exactly what we need in the Oregon Legislature.”
Cyreena Boston grew up in Northeast Portland. She first became involved in public service at the age of 10, knocking on doors for the Portland Organizing Project. She went on to work for the non-profit Self Enhancement Incorporated and case managed over 150 public school students. In 2006, Cyreena Boston became the Constituency Director for the Democratic Party of Oregon where she was involved in grass-roots lobbying efforts for Oregon’s landmark anti-discrimination and domestic partnerships laws. Currently, she works as a health policy analyst for the Multnomah County Health Disparity Study.
“Few people embody our shared values like Governor Barbara Roberts,” said Cyreena Boston. “She is an inspiration to me and countless other Oregonians. I am honored to have her support in my race for State Representative.”
Governor Roberts has had a long and distinguished career in public service. She was first elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 1981 and subsequently became the first woman to serve as House Majority Leader. Governor Roberts has worked for Oregon as Secretary of State, Governor and as a teacher. Over the years she has sought to improve education, advocated for affordable health care, and fought against discrimination based on sexual orientation.
